The academic year in Poland begins on 1st October and usually finishes at the end of June. It consists of two semesters (the winter one and the summer one), which last 15 weeks each. The winter semester starts in the first week of October and lasts till mid-February, with about 10 days of a winter break for Christmas. The exam session usually lasts tree weeks beginning in late January. The summer semester starts in the midst of February and ends in September, with a one-week spring beak for Easter in April and the summer holiday from the beginning of July to 30th September. June is reserved for examinations and September – for make-up exams.
